As A New Real Estate Investor, Do This 1 Thing

Dear real estate investor, come closer because I’ve got a story for you. It’s a tale of ambition, risk, and a valuable lesson in real estate investing that I’m sure will resonate with many of you, especially my fellow Nigerians.

Once Upon a Time in Nigeria...

There was a man who made a fortune here in Nigeria from his booming business. Feeling on top of the world, he decided to take things to the next level. So, he took a loan from his banker, gathered all his savings, and headed off to California, USA.

His plan? To invest in a multi-unit apartment real estate venture. Sounds like a solid plan, right?

At first, everything was going smoothly. The man’s investment was thriving, and he was living the dream. But then, disaster struck. An earthquake hit California, and just like that, all his investments went under in an instant. Out of shock and heartbreak, not long after, the man sadly passed away.

The Lesson

This story teaches us a crucial lesson: As a new real estate investor, start small. Don’t put all your life savings into one big property. Instead, spread your investments. Here’s how you can do it:

Diversify Your Investments

Rather than putting, say, N10 million into a single property, break it down:

- N3 million for a property here

- N2 million for a property there

- Another N3 million for one here

- And N2 million for another one somewhere else

This way, even if your village people are after you, they cannot destroy all your properties at once. Spread your investments, reduce your risks!

Stay Wise, Stay Safe

Starting small doesn’t mean you’re thinking small. It means you’re smart and strategic, and safeguarding your hard-earned money. So, next time you think of plunging all your savings into one big investment, remember this story.
